ANTHONY QUINN BAY

Mountain bike M3 | Road bike R3

This is the queen stage of the week. We ride up the mountain past the valley of butterflies on tarmac. After leaving the village of Psinthos behind us, we take a rapid descent with several riverbed crossings down to Afandou beach. The descent is quite challenging and demands a lot from even experienced bikers. We ride directly along the water on tarmac and gravel to our stop for a swim and refreshments. We then ride back to the hotel on side roads and shorter off-road sections.

BUTTERFLY VALLEY

Mountain bike M1 | Road bike R1

Take the road past Old Theologos to the famous Butterfly Valley. Although you can only really expect to see butterflies from 10 June to 20 September, the narrow valley is still worth a visit. You can take a leisurely stroll along a stream with small waterfalls on paths and steps. We then continue up the road a little further until we turn off onto a gravel path. It is a good idea to make a stop at a remote viewpoint before heading back down towards the coast on a scree path. At the end of the descent, we pass a tank cemetery with 12 decommissioned tanks, which alone would be worth a tour.

PROFITIS ILIAS OFFROAD

Different routes Mountain bike M2 | Road bike R2

This tour is one of the most difficult but also one of the most beautiful in our repertoire. We head towards the mountain on roads and gravel paths. The main ascent is tackled on a tarmac road, which is quite steep in places. The way up leads through an enchanted forest with gnarled trees reminiscent of ‘The Lord of the Rings’. Once at the top, you can walk through this forest on old stone steps, discover dilapidated houses from a bygone era and much more. There is also a hotel with a restaurant there, which invites you to stop for a bite to eat. A very challenging single trail leads back down into the valley, winding its way down the steep slope in tight hairpin bends, covered in large scree and interspersed with steps. There are sections here that even advanced bikers cannot ride. Then it's back to the hotel on gravel and road.

THE MOUNTAINS OF RHODOS

Unterschiedliche Routen Mountainbike M2/3

This wonderful tour takes us up the road, past the Valley of the Butterflies and up into the mountains. Halfway up, we visit an exclusive viewpoint to which we have to hike a short distance. Shortly afterwards, we head off-road and along a mountain range, from where there are magnificent views of the surrounding mountain landscape. We then enjoy a super long and fantastic panoramic descent. You have a good chance of experiencing the famous ‘flow feeling’ as you descend the gravelled piste. We finally reach Soroni through a pretty and secluded valley.  Here we stop off at our favourite bakery, where we can treat ourselves to well-deserved smoothies, milkshakes and delicious pastries. Freshly fortified, we now make our way home along a flat gravel track.
